Thesis Proposal
Based on the development document, I completed my thesis proposal. As there wasn’t much time to conduct extensive research, I included some books in the potential resources section that I found in the LCC library. I plan to research these books and more during the break. While building up my proposal, I realized the concerns that Nigel mentioned during the tutorial session. According to the thesis proposal structure provided by Nigel, the following points are necessary:
- Filling a gap in the existing body of research on the subject
- Underscoring existing research on the subject, and/or
- Adding new, original knowledge to the academic community’s existing understanding of the subject
In my case, I tried to search for information on the adaptation of anamorphosis to VFX on Google Scholar. However, despite the prominence of anamorphic screen art, there wasn’t a sufficient amount of previous research available. Therefore, I will research currently well-documented subjects such as photorealism, visual effects, and anamorphosis. I will also focus on the technical aspects of creating anamorphic screen art. As this is my first time writing a thesis proposal, I’m still not sure whether my approach is entirely appropriate. Nevertheless, I’ll do my best to figure out the answer to my research question.
