EP Group Project – Week 05
For the fifth week, I added simple graphic to the rough cut using After Effects to check each scene’s timing and duration. It’s almost 58 seconds, and fortunately, we were satisfied with the duration of each scene.

Secondly, during the tracking experiment, I encountered trouble tracking one of the scenes. When I applied the CameraTracker node and inserted geometry as I did for the other simple footage, it didn’t match with the handle when the camera was shaking. To solve this problem, I asked Gonzalo how to track objects in a moving scene, then I shared my script with him. A few days later, he replied and shared his script, which was working great. Upon reviewing his script in detail, I noticed that it didn’t involve any complex node structures or techniques, so I could understand how it was composed. The primary difference was that he rotoed only the handle area, whereas I had rotoed both the arm and handle area. Thanks to his help, I found a solution for this scene and similar scenes in the future.

For the green screen filming, we managed to film during our green screen session. However, due to time constraints, we couldn’t film with the real scooter. We took a test video to check the angle and lighting. They looked quite good, but when I tried to remove the green in Nuke, the lights above his head were problematic. They were too close to his head, and in some frames, they even overlaid on his hair. Additionally, we filmed with a GoPro to match the wide angle of entering and exiting the tunnel. Since the studio was indoors, the footage was quite noisy. To enhance the quality of the footage, we’ll need to film with a Blackmagic camera. On the other hand, moving the light up and down created a good resemblance to the inside of the tunnel.
My tasks for next week:
- Create tracking data
- Green screen filming
