Final Compositing

Finally, I got the rendering of my scene! Since I set it without a color space, I had to color grade in Nuke. It wasn’t that complicated, as I only adjusted saturation and a few knobs of the grade node.
After finishing the color grading for other scenes, I composited the render of the whale and the background. Since it was rendered from a different program, I had to add caustics and light to match the elements. Additionally, I needed to introduce distortion, and I found a great tutorial for it. By utilizing this function, I could enhance the effects. While searching for the source of caustics, I found a gizmo file on the internet.
Now, everything’s done! I added some sound effects and BGM to my scene in Premiere. It’s the final scene.
I also created a breakdown video.
It was the first time I created a video from scratch, so I encountered many problems. Thanks to the help from Emily, Manos, Gonzalo, and videos on the internet, I could finish it. I’m quite satisfied with my result; however, I regret that I couldn’t make everything by myself due to my poor modeling skills and time limitations. I hope to learn more and create better results in the future.

After submitting, I reviewed my video on another monitor and noticed that my monitor has relatively low saturation and a slightly more blueish tint, especially in the whale scene. Moving forward, I’ll make sure to adjust my monitor settings for accurate color representation. In future projects, I plan to cross-check on multiple devices to ensure consistent color quality.
