Rotoscoping – Running man

Gonzalo assigned us a homework task to get comfortable with Rotoscoping. To ensure precision, I decided to break it down into multiple segments. I predominantly used bezier curves for most of the parts, with the exception of shoe strings and fingers, which relied on open splines. My process involved the following steps: creating the shape, analyzing motion, setting keyframes at the beginning and end of that motion, adding a keyframe at the midpoint, and fine-tuning the curves while playing back and forth to ensure a perfect fit.

One aspect that left me slightly regretful was not knowing how to modify the color input at that time. I believe it would have made it easier to discern the outline of the man. Although I submitted an initial version, it wasn’t the final one because I had not completed the hand roto. After receiving feedback from Gonzalo, I returned to finish the hands using rotoscoping.

Personally, it took much more time than I expected, but I’m hopeful that with more practice, I’ll be able to streamline my workflow and reduce the time spent on Roto in the future.
