EP – Animation

I continued animating from last week and managed to finish five scenes that require character animation. To check how the animations worked, I exported the playblast video after completing them. It was my first time animating my model in Maya since the first term, so I found it quite confusing. To minimize mistakes with keyframes, I used animation layers and divided each part into separate layers.

Comes out from the monitor
Jump and bump into the bed
Jump back to the desk
Mimicking the figures
Come back into the monitor

First, I animated the blocking animation on the base animation layer, focusing on the position, scale, and rotation of the whole body group. Next, I animated only the body part on another layer, and then animated the limbs on yet another layer. This approach helped me avoid creating unnecessary keyframes on other objects by locking the other layers. After finishing the body and limbs, I animated the ears and tail using controllers.

The animation part is almost complete. I’m now going to animate the face based on the playblast video. Then, I will finally start rendering.
