EP Group Project – Week 03

For the third week, we divided our roles into different parts. I took on the FX and Comp aspects, although my main focus will be on compositing. We then decided on the filming locations; based on our test, we chose the Waterloo Tunnel and a building near the university.
To prepare for filming, we made a list of required equipment such as the GoPro and Blackmagic camera, and booked them on ORB. During the feedback session, Manos suggested that if we need a 3D environment, we could use an AI 3D generator. Since we only have two months for this project and may not have enough time to model everything, it’s something we might consider (although currently, we don’t see the necessity for it).

Afterwards, we focused on finalizing our storyboard. Since filming is scheduled for next week, we needed to create a storyboard and animatic to estimate the duration of each scene. Violette had many ideas, but we found it challenging to depict them through drawings. We searched for references and started the storyboard from scratch, managing to visualize the entire story.
Once the storyboard was complete, I created an animatic video. Initially, it was about 50 seconds long, which we thought it too long for the planned filming. After a brief discussion, we decided to merge some scenes at the beginning, reducing the duration to about 45 seconds. I hope everything goes smoothly during the actual filming.
My tasks for next week:
- Filming
- Collecting footage
- Conducting tracking experiments
