Collaborative unit: week 08 – Final outcome and making of video

In the eighth week, we reached the culmination of our project with the completion of our artefact video and making-of video. One of our team members took charge of rendering all the plants and contributed to the motion design aspect, allowing me to focus on creating the making-of video and our final outcome video.

For the final outcome video, I meticulously edited the footage we filmed last week, trimming unnecessary scenes and adjusting pacing. I seamlessly integrated scenes from the MR experience and third-person perspectives, ensuring a natural flow, and composited our plants onto the videos. The compositing work was based on the recorded MR video, to matching the rendered images with the recording. Finally, I completed this task by rotoscoping their hands for added realism.

In crafting the making-of video, we each filmed individual self-reflection videos. Although I also recorded mine, I had to trim it due to its slower pace, ensuring the video remained within five minutes. Collaborating with such talented team members was a joy, each bringing their unique perspectives and insights, enriching my learning experience. Working with others challenged me to improve my collaboration skills, and while we encountered challenges along the way, we overcame them to produce a remarkable output within a short timeframe. I wish we had more time to address the feedback we received just five days before the submission, particularly regarding blending the plants more realistically with the background and shadows. However, despite this constraint, we persevered and made the best of the situation.

In the final stages, I added subtitles and voiceovers to the videos. We utilized Notevibes to create AI voices, selecting the most natural and credible options from a variety of choices. With the audio files seamlessly integrated, the making-of video was completed, concluding with the credits section, which personally, I find the most rewarding.

This short yet intense project journey culminated in the submission of our two videos. Despite the condensed timeline, juggling individual projects alongside this collaboration, I am proud of the satisfactory outcome we achieved. This experience will remain a valuable and memorable chapter in my journey.
