EP – Storyboard

I had a feedback session with Klaus where I received valuable advice for the current stage of my project. During the session, I explained the concept and showcased the progress of my storyboard. Initially, I had set the camera for a first-person view. However, Klaus pointed out that it might be challenging to convey the scene effectively. As a solution, he suggested adjusting the camera angle slightly to the left or right.
As mentioned in a previous post, the main concept revolves around static electricity. Klaus emphasized the importance of illustrating why the character emerges from the screen, how the presence in the room is evident, and how the frequent occurrences of static electricity are portrayed. Building on this feedback, I brainstormed some ideas. Firstly, I plan to insert a scene where I use a laptop and phone with a friend, possibly engaging in conversation in Korean to create a natural mood. In this scene, I can mention the issue of static electricity, saying something like, ‘I always get static electricity; I can’t work with my laptop!’
The main scene will remain consistent with my initial sketch, depicting the character moving around the room. However, I will incorporate an additional element – the character accidentally hitting something on the desk as it runs towards the screen. While I haven’t decided on the specific object, it will fall down due to the character’s impact.
I sketched a draft storyboard incorporating Klaus’ advice. I added a scene that wasn’t present in the initial stage, where the character pops into the console screen, displaying a gaming scene. This may be subject to change after testing the camera and determining the rough duration of the entire scene. The location remains my room, but adjustments may be needed based on camera tests.
Following the feedback session with Klaus, I also received insights from Manos. He pointed out that starting the scene with a close-up shot of my desk might lead to confusion for viewers. To address this concern, Manos suggested showcasing the entire desk or room to establish the video’s environment. While he mentioned the option of seeking assistance during filming, my current plan involves using a tripod for solo filming. If this approach proves challenging, I am open to adjusting my plan accordingly.
Moving forward, the next steps in my project involve creating a style board and sketching the character. The style board will play a crucial role in defining the main mood, tone, and color of the entire scene. Given my limited filming skills, I anticipate encountering errors and undergoing numerous trials during the video production process.

After revising the storyboard, I created animatic video based on the storyboard. This process was quite helpful to check how long each scene takes. I’m going to film based on this video, I hope the duration would be similar to it.
