Shared sketches on MIRO board and selected which plants do they model

As per our discussions last week, each team member created individual sketches envisioning future plants. Using various AI prompts, we generated images to represent these futuristic flora. After sharing our sketches, we collectively decided on utilizing a total of 8 models, each featuring both idle and interaction animations. At this stage, we’ve organized our workflow for the upcoming project tasks. With a team of 6 members, works have been divided. Some members will focus on setting up the MR environment and testing demos in Unity. Meanwhile, others will be tasked with modeling the plants based on the sketches, with each person responsible for two models.

Left: render from SP, Right: set in Unity

Looking ahead, I will unwrap the UVs and texture the models in Substance Painter. This phase is expected to take place a few weeks later, as we want to conduct thorough tests before transferring the models from Substance Painter to Unity. To ensure a quick check, I downloaded a model from Sketchfab and transferred its texture set in Substance Painter. Although the result was quite similar, I noticed that the emission didn’t appear as strong as desired. To address this, I suggested referring to a tutorial video.

Meeting brief: Week 02

  • Assigning the task of modeling two models to each, totaling 8 models.
  • Sketching the storyboard for MR interactions with the plants.
  • Allocating responsibilities to each team member.
  • Initiating the setup of a demo for MR.
